Operation Refuse War: A Week of Action Uniting Resisters
May 11-16 2006, New York City and Washington, DC
Through workshops, actions, and an international conference, Operation Refuse War will highlight the difficulties that
current conscientious objectors face as w ell as help build relationships and connections between the various
communities with in the antiwar movement, as w ell as examine the current potential of conscientious objection (in
its various forms) as a strategy for building an anti-war movement.

Lobby to End the War in Iraq:  Building Grassroots Pressure on Capitol Hill
May 21-22, 2006, Washington, DC
This dynamic weekend will bring together grassroots activists from across the country to learn how to effectively
communicate our demands to Congress, to strategize about how to build the peace movement’s political power and
to lobby on Capitol Hill for an end to the occupation of Iraq!  To help maximize young people’s participation, SPAN is
offering travel scholarships to defray the costs of attending!  There will also be opportunities to socialize and network

Student Peace Action Network National Summit
July 14-16th, Wayne State University, Detroit, MI
Student and youth peace activists will convene for trainings, workshops, dialogue, music, movement building and

International Union of Socialist Youth 2006 World Festival
Alicante, Spain July 18-23rd
Every three years, the International Union of Socialist Youth hosts a major gathering of young people from all over the
world.  The event brings together over 7000 young activists and leaders from six continents and over 100 countries.  
Most of them are from IUSY member organizations, like the Young Democratic Socialists (YDS).  IUSY is the world's
largest political coalition of youth, made up of activists from socialist, labor and social democratic groups.  The
Festival is open to all youth committed to progressive political change. Contact the YD
